We are always needing certain things; these are among the most urgent.
- Items for our Jumble Sale or Catnip Tea: We desperately need items to sell at our Annual Rummage Sale, or for auction at our Catnip Tea. If there’s something good you have that you don’t have room for anymore, or if there is something you want to make (and we have a list of items which you could) and would like it to go to a good cause, consider us. We can sell it, you can take a deduction, and the cats will benefit.
- a/d prescription food: Required for some of our charges.
- Advantage/Revolution: A lot of the cats coming in from the field are being eaten alive by fleas—products like these help ease their suffering as quickly as possible.
- Cat and kitten food: Specifically, Iams or Kirkland (the Costco brand). We go through a lot of this, too.
- Cat furniture: With as many cats as we have around the place, any chance to get some of them off the floor is welcome. We need some well-constructed cat condos. Nothing too tall, though, please—our kittens might get themselves into trouble. We also always need cat cubes and would very much like to find someone to make some sturdy ones for us.
- Cell phones: We need two of these to facilitate field operations and deal with veterinary emergencies.
- Soft plush toys: As strange as it sounds, plush toys can comfort a new kitten in its first few weeks after arrival. These need to be machine-washable, and at least kitten-sized (preferably cat-sized or larger).
- Livetraps: Some of ours are worn out; we could use some more, preferably raccoon- or cat-sized.
- Milk replacer: Our youngest charges require this; preferably “Just Born” brand.
- Kitten bedding: Kitties love something soft and warm to snuggle in—and we go through a lot of it. We’re always on the lookout for baby blankets, small flannel blankets, or suitable yardage of flannel. All these items must be machine-washable. Faux fur is good, too.
- Ringer’s solution: This is a medical supply, which we use for rehydration in some of our severest cases. Hospitals are required to throw these out even if only partially used by humans—but we could easily use what’s left over for our charges.
- Things for Tipsy the Intrepid: Tipsy is one of our permanent denizens—she has a brain deficiency that makes it difficult for her to walk without . . . well, tipping over—hence, her name. Since she has a lot of trouble getting settled, and needs some padded space to move around in, we’ve been hoping someone could help her out with a body pillow, or better yet, an old single or twin futon with a washable cover. Either one would make her much more comfortable.
- Heating pads or a Veterinary-quality heating platform: When we find very young kittens, their survival depends on keeping warm.
- Veterinary Medications (unexpired, or just-recently expired): These are used only with our veterinarian’s approval, of course, but having medications available can save us a lot of money—important when you’re on a shoestring budget. What we can’t use will be shared with wildlife-rescue or other rescue groups.
- Cat-theme notecards and greeting cards: Seasonal cards welcome.
- MOST OF ALL: We need homes for our cats and kittens!
