We’ve always had occasional extra volunteers through the years, but reliable, consistent help is difficult to find. In fact, our need for help has become critical. If you can contribute in any of these ways, please contact us.
- Fund Raising: We’re looking for someone with fundraising experience. We’ve traditionally had our annual Catnip Tea in the spring, and an annual rummage sale (the Jumble Sale) in the fall. However, we still operate in the red most of the time, and are taking a hard look at changing and expanding our fundraising activities. We could use help with outreach, sales, coordination, publicity, and of course, things we can sell to raise money.
Foster care: You might not be in a position to adopt a pet permanently, but we do need kittens and adults fostered and socialized. It would help if you already had some experience with fostering cats and kittens.
- Housekeeping: Of course, as with most volunteer organizations, our staff consists of people with day jobs. The evenings are full of housework, medicating cats, dealing with litterboxes, fundraising activities, and all the other things that go into running this place (including the website). It would help a lot if we could get some housekeeping assistance one or two evenings a week, so that we can spend more time on cat-related activities.
- Carpentry and Metalwork: We always need more shelters/feeders, and we would like to produce some customized cat furniture for fundraising. Also, our livetraps take a beating, and we have a few that badly need minor repairs.
- Colony support: You can “adopt” one of our feral colonies. We supply the food and medicine as needed, you do the feeding, cataloguing and observation for us.
- Couriers: Individuals who are able to transport animals to and from the vet.
- Flyer distribution: Aside from the website, we also have paper flyers that need to be distributed. If you’d like to post some of these for us (preferably not on telephone poles or other places where they would merely be considered a nuisance), please let us know.
- Trappers: Well, we are out for fur, but not that kind. Daring individuals who are willing to help safely capture feral cats are always needed.
- Visitors: If nothing else, we need people to just stop by and visit our cats for socialization and playtime.
- Other: Watch for more details, or let us know if you’ve thought of something that we’ve missed.
