Our websiteSeveral people have contributed in one way or another to our website over the years, but by and large, it is maintained and hosted (gratis) by Ken at ArtLogix, who has also served as the chair of our board in the past. The content is another matter: by and large, it is provided by Sharon, who also supplies the vast majority of the photos herein. The website has gone through several incarnations over the years as our needs have changed. At first, it was a few static pages on a user page at the UW. After it moved to a domain of its own, a suite of custom scripts helped manage the sheer number of pages we were setting up. At this writing, the site is largely being maintained in Adobe GoLive (though Adobe’s purchase of Macromedia may necessitate further changes), and more and more of it is being converted into a database-backed set of dynamic pages (using PHP 5 and PostgreSQL) which should allow Sharon to update pages, add pictures, and maintain the cat database on her own. (Indeed, this is long overdue, but Ken has had a lot on his plate lately.) Suggestions, corrections and comments about the website can be sent to webmaster@campuscats.org. Our logoYears ago, when the cartoonist Steve Greenberg was living in Seattle, he generously donated his time and skills to designing a logo for us, which we use to this day. It has changed slightly from its original form; Steve gave us a perfectly lovely JPG, which has since been laboriously and lovingly converted to an Adobe Illustrator file. We also made a couple of other minor changes (namely removing the background, and nicking the ears of the cats), but were careful to preserve the original spirit of the design as much as possible, and it's held up very well over the years. Thanks, Steve. |
